Itzel Delgado won the gold medal in SUP Race style for males in the XII Pan American Surfing Games 2016 (Claro Open) that will continue until Sunday at the beach "Punta Roquitas" in the Miraflores district (Lima).

"I had a big fight with the Mexican Julio Gonzales. I made sure he’d never pass me. Every time he approached me, I just imagined the moment of receiving the gold medal and my flag on the shoulders to motivate me. I am very happy and this medal is for Peru...", said Delgado.

The Peruvian surfer completed the race with a time of 27 minutes 56 seconds. July Gonzales from Mexico followed as the second with a time of 28 minutes 07 seconds.
