The XVIII (18th) Pan American Games, a major sporting event similar to the Olympic Games, but restricted to the Americas in which thousands of athletes compete in 38 different summer sports, is held in Lima in 2019.

And while the official logo for Lima 2019, by the way inspired by the Flower of Amancaes, a native plant endemic to the coastal Peruvian hills, can be found already everywhere, the organizers are still looking for the official mascot that represents not only the Games but as well the Peruvian venue.

To find this perfect little lucky charm it was decided to launch a contest in which everybody can take part – the everybody unfortunately only refers to Peruvian nationals. So, if you have a DNI, get creative, design the perfect mascot for the 18th Pan American Games in Lima and go down in the history of the games.

The official mascot for Lima 2019 should reflect the history and culture of the Peruvian capital. It as well should radiate life and passion, and capture the warmth and hospitality of the Limeños. Additionally, the little lucky charm should embody determination, courage, and equality, as well as the spirit of the sporting event.

The design of the mascot can be inspired by an animal, plant, person, animated object or any other thing relating to Lima and should be based on positive elements that are part of the historical, cultural and natural identity of the city. And it needs of course a nice name.

If you want to participate, get more detailed info on the Lima 2019 webpage. Deadline for submitting your design is May 30, 2017.
