Renowned Latin America business magazine América Economía acknowledges in its annual ranking the Peruvian Minister of Economy and Finance, Alfredo Thorne, as the best minister of Latin America in his area.

Crucial for his nomination was not only the positive economic measures of the Peruvian government or Thorne’s achievements, such as billions worth of investments in infrastructure works at airports, ports, roads and sanitation.

The magazine as well pointed out that Alfredo Thorne has an unparalleled, impressive CV with a doctorate in economics from Oxford and a master degree from Cambridge. Alfredo Thorne as well was a senior economist at the World Bank and executive director of the Latin American analysis unit at JP Morgan-Chase.

Additionally, Alfredo Thorne is the person of trust for president Pedro Pablo Kuczynski in all matters concerning the Peruvian economy and finances. He is very well connected in Peru and even highly respected by the opposition that controls the congress. The Peruvian Minister of Finance and Economy furthermore has an excellent reputation with economists around the globe.

In second place of the América Economía ranking is Thorne’s Colombian counterpart Mauricio Cárdenas, followed by Donald Guerrero from the Dominican Republic in third position. Chilean Finance Minister Rodrigo Valdés is in fourth place.

Already in 2007 with Luis Carranza and in 2012 with Luis Miguel Castilla the magazine choose a Peruvian Minister of Finance and Economy as best minister.
