While Peru’s president Pedro Pablo Kuczynski (PPK) is jetting from one meeting to the next trying to encourage investments, improve the infrastructure, reform the health and education sector, fight corruption, deepen existing relations and establish new ones, his approval ratings however decline constantly; in December they dropped another 3%.

According to the newest survey of Ipsos, an independent marketing and research company, published in the Peruvian daily El Comercio last Sunday, the popularity rating of the Head of State is at an all-time low. While in September 2016 PPK still had the support of 63% of the Peruvian population, this number dropped to 55% in October, 51% in November and only 48% in December. 36% of those participating in this month’s survey disapprove of the president’s work completely while 16% didn’t share their opinion.

The ones supporting PPK state that he has good ideas (42%), lots of experience (34%), is working on improving the economy (39%), education (28%) and the safety of citizens (23%). On the other hand the ones disapproving of him think that he doesn’t bother to improve the safety of Peruvians (38%), will not keep his promises (33%), has corruption in his government (28%), doesn’t have authority (28%) and only works for the ones with money (26%).

And the approval ratings for the Peruvian government, congress and judiciary aren’t any better. 46% of those participating in the survey approve of the work of the Peruvian government, while 42% disapprove and 12% abstained. The Peruvian congress has an approval rating of only 32% and the judiciary with 26% even less.
