Market researcher Kantar Millward Brown publishes Peru’s Top 20 Brands ranking

Kantar Millward Brown, a multinational market research company focused on advertising effectiveness, strategic communication, media and brand equity research, published the results of the 2018 Most Valuable Peruvian Brands ranking.

And as in the previous year – see our article The Top 20 Peruvian Brands 2017 – Peruvians continue to prefer to use and buy local brands that reflect Peruvian values and traditions and represents the Peruvian spirit and pride. And as last year, in 2018 the Top 20 Most Valuable Brands consists of companies in the area of beer, banks and shopping complemented by some foodstuff and cement.

Here come the complete Top 20 including a short discription

 BrandZ Top 20 Most Valuable Peruvian Brands 2018

  1. Cristal: a Peruvian beer produced by Peru’s largest beer company Backus (subsidiary of SAB Miller)
  2. Pilsen Callao: the first Peruvian beer (created 1863), as well produced by Backus
  3. BCP (Banco de Credito): one of Peru’s largest banks with a huge presence across the country, popular mostly with middle and upper-class Peruvians and companies
  4. Interbank: as well one of the largest banks in the country with a large lower and middle-income customer base
  5. Inka Cola: the famous Peruvian yellow soft drink that is more popular in the country than Coca Cola; that’s probably the reason Coca Cola bought a decent share of the Lindley Corporation that produces Inka Cola
  6. Cusqueña: another Peruvian beer produced by Backus
  7. Pacifico: the leading insurance company in Peru which is as BCP part of Credicorp, the largest financial group in Peru
  8. Pilsen Trujillo: the fourth beer on this list originating in northern Peru, today as well produced by Backus
  9. Realplaza: a shopping mall chain based in Lima with presence in many other Peruvian cities; owned by Interbank
  10. Cemento Sol: is the most popular and reliable cement in Peru widely used by commercial and private builders across the country; owned by Unacem (Unión Andina de Cementos)
  11. D’Onofrio: Peru’s leading ice cream brand and popular producer of chocolates, cookies and candies; founded by Italian immigrant Pedro D’Onofrio in 1897, today part of Nestle
  12. Inkafarma: is the largest pharmacy chain in Peru belonging to the Interbank Group
  13. PlazaVea: is a Peruvian supermarket and hypermarket chain with over 80 stores across the country; as well part of the Interbank Group
  14. Metro: a supermarket chain in Peru with around 70 stores across the country; it is part of Chilean Cencosud, one of the biggest retailers in Latin America
  15. Arequipeña: another Peruvian beer originating in the southern city of Arequipa; today the Pilsen is produced by Backus
  16. Gloria: iconic Peruvian brand and market leader in all sorts of dairy products in Peru including the highly popular evaporated milk, yoghurts, UHT, cheese, cream and lately as well juices
  17. Sublime: the favorite chocolate of Peruvians; the brand was created by Antonio D’Onofrio, son of Pedro D’Onofrio, in 1924, today part of Nestle
  18. Cemento Andino: the second cement company on this list that as Cemento Sol belongs to Unacem
  19. MiBanco: the bank in Peru for micro / small businesses and entrepreneurs; subsidiary of BCP
  20. Bolivar: Peru’s leading laundry soap bar and second most popular washing powder; owned by Alicorp
