In addition to the already announced new entrance times, another change to visit Machu Picchu takes effect on July 1, 2017. From then on visitors are only permitted to enter the Inca citadel in groups of max. 16 people accompanied by an official tour guide.

As we already reported last month in our article “New entrance times for Machu Picchu” starting July 1, 2017 Machu Picchu visitors have to enter Peru’s most popular tourist attraction in 2 shifts. The morning shift will be from 06.00 am to 12.00 pm and the afternoon shift from 12.00 pm to 05.30 pm.

Those wanting to stay the whole day have to purchase tickets for both shifts. Tickets bought until May 2, 2017 for July to December 2017 remain valid.

The access to Machu Picchu mountain (07.00 am to 08.00 am or 09.00 am to 10.00 am) and Huayna Picchu (07.00 am to 08.00 am or 10.00 am to 11.00 am) as reported in our article “Entry fees Machu Picchu 2017” remain the same.
