To celebrate the festive season the “Cocoa and Chocolate Feast from the VRAEM region”, is held in the Kennedy Park in Miraflores starting on December 13, 2017.

The valleys of the Apurimac, Ene and Mantaro rivers (VRAEM) are usually known for being the largest coca leave and cocaine producing region in Peru. But this area is as well ideal for cultivating cocoa and offers farmers a good alternative to earn their living legally. Today about 60% of the different cocoa varieties are grown in Peru and over the past years the country became one of the main producers and exporters of fine (organic) cocoa.

So, the Fiesta de Cacao y Chocolate del VRAEM, where about 20 producers and organizations from the VRAEM region present a wide variety of products made from native cocoa and chocolate, provides a good opportunity to smell and taste delicious Peruvian cocoa products and chocolate while at the same time supporting local farmers.
