Gran Corso Wong - Wong Parade 2017 in Lima

Over the past 30 years the Gran Corso Wong became a beloved part of the celebrations for Fiestas Patrias, Peru’s National Holiday, and is a must see when in Lima.

The Corso is a huge about 5-hour long parade consisting of Peruvian folkloric dancers, traditional costumes and music from all over the country, marching bands, school orchestras, and even Chinese dragons – Erasmo Wong, founder of the Wong supermarket chain and initiator of the first Wong parade was a Chinese immigrant and brought together cultural elements of his new and old home country.

The Wong Parade is a huge display of Peruvian national pride and shows the diversity of the country. Expect as well countless colorful floats and other moving devices, Miss Peru and other public figures, a circus-like, happy atmosphere, fireworks and other surprises for the grand finale and lots of spectators.

For the first 28 editions, the Wong Parade was held in the center of Miraflores, before switching to Surco last year. This year the Gran Corso Wong starts at the intersection of Av. Benavides and Av. Caminos del Inca, runs along Av. Benavides for about 20 blocks and ends at the Ovalo Higuereta.
